Chromebook/Laptop Device Care and Expectations - District Staff
The Chromebook provided to you by the Greenfield School District is an essential tool for both educational and professional use. While the device remains the property of the district, you are responsible for its care and maintenance throughout your employment. Below are key guidelines to help ensure the proper handling of your Chromebook:
Care and Maintenance
Keep It Clean: Please refrain from applying stickers, writing, or etching on the Chromebook to maintain a professional appearance. These devices may be reused or sold in the future, so we must keep them in good condition.
Device and Accessory Responsibility
Personal Accountability: Your Chromebook is district property, and care of the device and its charger are your responsibility. Please avoid loaning them to others to ensure you always have the necessary tools for your work.
Secure Handling: Be mindful of your device and charger, keeping them away from potential hazards like pets or spills to prevent damage.
Daily Use
Shut Down Regularly: Shutting down your Chromebook each night helps maintain its performance and allows updates to occur on a frequent basis.
Charge Overnight: Fully charging your Chromebook overnight ensures that it is ready for a full day of teaching.
Reporting Issues Promptly
Timely Reporting: If you encounter any technical issues, please report them immediately to the IT department, submit a support ticket via SolarWinds, located on the district website under staff resources. Addressing problems early can prevent bigger disruptions down the road.
Fees for Vandalism, Negligence, or Intentional Damage
Device Care: Intentional damage, including applying stickers or markings on the Chromebook, will be considered vandalism. Fees may be assessed for repairs or replacements due to intentional damage or negligence:
-
- Markings/Stickers: $5 per marking/sticker
- Lost/Damaged Charger: $30
- Lost/Stolen Chromebook: $825
- Broken Screen: $100 deductible
Device Return
Upon Leaving: If you leave the district, you will be expected to return the Chromebook and its accessories in good condition; otherwise, charges may be applied for theft of the device.
