Thank you for your interest in Greenfield High School’s (“GHS”) Playschool program, sponsored and run by our child care classes.
The program will run from Monday, October 28 – Wednesday, November 20:
- Mondays — 12:40 – 2:30 pm
- Tuesdays — 12:40 – 2:30 pm
- Wednesdays — 11:25 am – 2:30 pm
This program is not a state-certified childcare program and it is not funded in that manner. Therefore, a fee of $45 per semester will be required. This $45 fee is due by the start date of the program. If you are interested in the fall semester Playschool program, please turn in your application in a timely manner, as enrollment is determined on a first-come, first-served basis. If at any time you know your child will no longer be able to attend, please notify me immediately, so that another child can take his or her place. Preschool students do not have to be Greenfield residents.
For this program, we attempt to give an atmosphere similar to a professional program. It is our hope to enroll approximately 13-16 young children in the Playschool so our student teachers can experience a normal teacher to student ratio. The state requires a 1:4 teacher to student ratio, we strive for a 1:2 ratio.
Each day will have a different theme on which we will focus our learning by incorporating stories, songs, art projects, games, group activities, as well as individual exploration. We hope that the children who attend Playschool will gain better social and emotional skills within the Playschool environment and that this will subsequently aid them to adjust to future schooling.
Please be aware that we reserve the right to invite preschoolers to stay home if they pose a threat to the learning or safety of other preschoolers or high school student teachers. This is a laboratory school meant to train new preschool teachers, but is also an entry level training program. Student teachers are not equipped to handle abnormal situations including but not limited to: diapers, pro-longed misbehavior, mistreatment of school supplies or other students and special needs that would require a professionally trained individual to provide services.
Completing the application does not guarantee enrollment within the Playschool program for the fall semester. However, by returning the completed form as soon as possible your child’s likelihood of acceptance for the Playschool program will increase.
The following are the requirements necessary in order for a child to be eligible to attend the Playschool program:
- At least three years old by our start date (October 28, 2024)
- Fully potty-trained (does not need pull-ups at any time)
- Speak and understand basic English
The additional information required on the application is to aid providers of the preschooler with relevant information, as well as to provide contact information. Thank you again for your interest in the GHS Playschool program!
